With the help of metallographic microscope to observe the microstructure of forging fracture, the carbide distribution, grain size and decarburization depth can be checked.

Mechanical properties of the open die forging
The mechanical property inspection items mainly include hardness, tensile strength and impact toughness. Sometimes, cold bending test and fatigue test can be carried out according to the design requirements of parts.

The above quality inspection items(open die forging) are sometimes adopted separately according to the design requirements and the actual production situation, sometimes inspected piece by piece, and sometimes sampled according to each batch of forgings. The qualification of forgings can be evaluated through quality inspection . For defective forgings, the causes shall be analyzed and the defect prevention measures shall be put forward.
